About the Director:
Emily Becker graduated from the Virginia School of the Arts where she was the recipient of several awards including the Melina Ali and Van Lewis Awards. She trained at Toledo Ballet, Houston Ballet, and Boston Ballet before dancing with the Richmond Ballet. She has choreographed over 50 pieces for PDC and continues to find inspiration in the members of her company. Known for her intricately designed and visually engaging pieces, Mrs. Becker blends ballet with contemporary dance forms to create original and exciting pieces that audiences find exciting and engaging. Mrs. Becker has also choreographed for Godwin High School, Deep Run High School, Appomattox Regional Governor’s School and the Chesterfield School of Ballet. Mrs. Becker has been a ballet mistress for several pieces at the Richmond Ballet and has taught for their summer program. During the year Mrs. Becker can be found teaching at the Chesterfield School of Ballet and finishing her professional doctorate degree in Physical Therapy at MCV.
She is also the proud wife of five years to Mr. Brandon Becker who has performed with Richmond Ballet, Barksdale Theater, and the Swift Creek Mill locally, while currently acting as the chair of the musical theater department at the Appomattox Regional Governor's School in Petersburg, VA. Without his support none of this would be possible!

Brandon Becker is currently the Chair of Musical Theatre at Appomattox Regional Governor’s School. Brandon holds a BFA in Ballet Teaching & Performance from the University of Utah and an MFA in Theatre Pedagogy from Virginia Commonwealth University. As a dancer Brandon spent several seasons with the Aspen/Santa Fe Ballet and Richmond Ballet. As an actor Brandon has worked with Aspen Theatre in the Park, HBO Comedy Festival, and Four Rivers Musical Theatre. Locally Brandon has worked with Barksdale Theatre, SPARC, and Swift Creek Mill Theatre where he has performed in Lucky Stiff, Forever Plaid, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Urinetown. (Which he also choreographed) He is currently in Plaid Tidings at the Mill which runs throughout the holiday season. | | |
